Burnley FC in the Community (registered charity number 1155856) are the official charity of Burnley FC, delivering sport, health, education, inclusion and community facility projects for the benefit of the neediest people in East Lancashire.

With a mission to inspire, support and deliver change in communities, the charity looks to engage with businesses through their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy to deliver it’s mission.

Rapid IT Recycling have been members of the Friends Of Burnley FC in the Community programme since March 2017. Burnley FC in the Community are willing to testify that the following activities have taken place, in line with the ISO 2600 CSR Voluntary Management Standard, to the benefit of over 24,000 individuals across Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, Ribble Valley and West Yorkshire.

Whitehough Equipment Donation

Operated by Burnley FC in the Community, Whitehough Outdoor Centre is a 22-acre facility nestled in the enchanting Pendle countryside. Sleeping up to 90 on-site we can accommodate both large and small groups. The site also includes two classrooms, a large dining room, an extensive camping field and a 40-seater conference suite.

Formerly operated by Lancashire County Council, the site was closed due to austerity measures before BFCitC secured a 99 year lease. Rapid IT have provided IT Equipment to fully re-furb the on-site classroom facility, which will benefit over 3,600 annually.

Community Kitchen Equipment Donation

Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) have recently announced that it has secured a three-year lease to open a new community kitchen facility in the heart of the Charter Walk Shopping Centre. Inclusive of a food bank, a teaching kitchen and a community café, the Burnley Community Kitchen will aim to deliver positive change for those who need it most in the town; using food as the catalyst.

Utilising the health and well-being expertise within the BFCitC team, the Community Kitchen will also work as a partnership project with a number of organisations across the town. Rapid IT Recycling are one such organisation, who have pledged to donate all equipment needed to fully fit out the facility.

Wear Your Shirt To Work Day

Burnley FC in the Community (BFCitC) hosts an annual Community Day fixture, which was celebrated at the Burnley FC v Leicester City FC fixture on Saturday 14th April 2018. With the aim to raise funds through a number of activities in both the lead up to the game and on the day of the fixture itself, Community Day is also about raising awareness of the extensive non-profit work both charities are carrying out locally.

For the second consecutive season, BFCitC teamed up with fellow local charity Pendleside Hospice to deliver the themed matchday, with all proceeds raised split 50/50 between both charities. Rapid IT Recycling took part in the ‘Wear Your Shirt to Work Day’ initiative, which contributed just over £1000 to the final £13000 total.

Friends of Footy

In addition to the corporate donation, Rapid IT Recycling have organised a Fifa 18 tournament for staff and partners in order to raise further funds for BFCitC.

Rapid IT Recycling have also donated raffle prizes to the BFCitC Charity Dinner, which has raised over £57,000 in the last two years.

Rapid IT Recycling entered a team in the Friends Of Footy five a-side tournament, taking on teams from the wider Burnley & Pendle business community.

Clarets Community Choir

The newly formed Clarets’ Community Choir performed at the Community Carol Concert. Led by international opera singer Sean Ruane and his team from Chant Productions, the 35-strong choir includes staff, business partners and participants of the award-winning Burnley FC in the Community, Burnley FC’s official charity.

The Clarets’ Community Choir has been formed to bring together different areas of the charity’s work and the group will perform at various events going forward. Staff from Rapid IT Recycling attended 6 weeks of rehearsals and also performed on the evening for over 600 guests!
